Abstract:

The effects of anger management training on reducing parental anger was examined. Twenty-one parents (13 fathers with an average age of 37 and eight mothers (with an average age of 36) participated in seven sessions of anger management workshops.State-Trait Anger Expression Inventory (Spielberger, 1999) and Parental Anger Evaluation Questionnaire (Shokoo- hi Yekta & Zamani, 2008) were administered before and after training. The results of repeated measures revealed that anger management training significantly reduced the intensity of anger in situation-induced anger and trait anger, and increased anger control-in. There were no significant differen- ces in anger expression-out, anger expression-in and anger control-out. Results are discussed based on the efficacy of cognitive-behavioral interventions.

Abstract:

Abstract:

Introduction: Ethnic disputes and collective aggressions are observable in each period of history and are more evident in traditional and nomadic communities. This issue has had many life and property damages in the past and present times and it has also prevented social development to flourish. Based on the damages of collective aggression, the researchers attempt to study the fundamental causes of this problem. It is assumed that state-trait anger and anger control methods are effective variables on people's tendency toward collective aggression. …

Abstract:

To determine the effects of an anger management training program on anger self-regulation skills in a sample of high school boys, one school was selected randomly in Tehran. In this school, all 170 students who were in their second and third year of high school (freshmen and sophomores) answered the State Trait Anger Expression Inventory-2 as a screening instrument. Subjects, who scored at the 75th percentile and higher, according to the AX-Index, were expected to have anger management problems and were at high risk to produce serious negative consequences. Therefore, they were defined as the target group. From this very same group, 32 students were randomly selected and randomly assigned to experimental and control groups. Consequently, sixteen participants took part in the anger management program. In the third step, pre-intervention data by using STAXI-2 was gathered from all subjects. In the later step, a fourteen-week (14 sessions and each session Lasted 90 minutes) anger management program was administered for the experimental group while members of the control group completed the routine program. After treatment, pos Hest or post-intervention evaluation for both groups were carried out. Analysis of covariance (ANCOVA) and t-test for independent groups used determine whether there were statistically significant differences between measures corresponding experimental and control groups. The findings of present research indicate that anger management training has a positive effect on anger self-regulation skills of participants.

Abstract:

Abu Zeyd Balkhi, the Iranian Muslim scholar, theologian and philosopher, who lived in third and fourth Hijri Centuries, is the first scientist who studied the interplay between the mental hygiene or health and the body hygiene or health. He reported his findings and opinions in his book “ Masalih Al-abdan va Al-anfos”. Balkhi has attributed the orders of creation and universe to the wisdom of God and this because of influences of Quran, and religious teachings on his research and ideas. He, as the first Islamic psychologist, was a pioneer in implementing psychotherapy, cognitive therapy, and physiological psychology to diagnose and treat psychosomatic illnesses. The purpose of this paper is to use a documentation method and study the concept, modality, causes, and prevention methods of anger, from the point of view of Balkhi. The results show that modality of anger, according to Balkhi, includes a sensual disorder which originates from grief and sorrow, and ends with anxiety. Abu Zeyd Balkhi classifies the causes of neurotic and psychological illnesses into four anomalies: emotional which includes fear and anxiety, anger and aggression, sadness or depression, and obsession. He considers the causes and also the management methods of anger as two different internal and external types, and accordingly proposes effective solutions based on cognitive, emotional, and behavioral control.

Abstract:

Background and Purpose: The experience of anger and its management in the social environments have always been of interest to researchers. The present study was conducted with the aim of investigating the effect of anger management training based on cognitive-behavioral approach on reducing anger in girls. Method: This quasi-experimental study used pretest – posttest design with control group. 142 female students aged 12-15 years old were selected through convenient sampling method and randomly assigned to experimental and control groups (72 subjects in the experimental group and 70 subjects in the control group). Anger management training program based on cognitive-behavioral approach was conducted in a group for experimental group. Then, using the multidimensional anger questionnaire (Smith et al., 1998), the anger rates of participants before and after the training were measured. Data were analyzed using multivariate analysis of covariance (MANCOVA). Results: The results showed that the score of the experimental group in posttest significantly decreased in all aspects of anger (school anger, hostile attitude, school anger expression index) (p <0. 01) Conclusion: The result of this study showed that anger management program based on cognitive-behavioral approach reduces the amount of anger by increasing mental capabilities and proper management of emotions.

Abstract:

Background: Hyperactivity/attention deficit disorder is the most common neurobehavioral disorders in childhood usually diagnosed before the age of seven. Since anger is a part of the people's life, the children need to learn how to deal with their anger. This project was performed aiming to determine the effectiveness of anger management games on behavioral and anger symptoms of the children with hyperactivity/attention deficit disorder. Methods: This study is a semi-experimental research with a pre-test and post-test design conducted by using a control group. The statistical population includes 40 students aged between 7 and 13 with hyperactivity/attention deficit disorder in Najafabad, Iran referred to child and adolescent psychiatric clinic in Isfahan city (Iran). They were selected as in-available and after verifying the diagnosis by a child and adolescent subspecialist psychiatrist and placed in two test and control groups, randomly. The intervention method included a collection of Anger Management Games. The research tool included Children ׳s Inventory of Anger Questionnaire as well as Parent and Teacher Strengths and Difficulties Questionnaire. The data was analyzed through the statistical analysis method of covariance using SPSS software.Findings: The results showed that there is a significant difference between the subjects in test and control groups in terms of anger scores (F=6.99, P=0,001). The value of impact or difference was 0.159. Moreover based on the parents’ or teachers’ views, there is a significant difference between subjects in test and control groups regarding emotional scores, behavioral problems, hyperactivity, problems with their peers, and social problems. Conclusion: Anger management games were effective on anger, behavioral, emotional and relational symptoms of children with hyperactivity/attention deficit disorder; utilizing these games as a novel supplementary method by the children is recommended due to the ease of use and low cost.
